SH1001 - Itinerary - 6 Nights 7 Days

Chennai – Kanchipuram – Mahabalipuram – Tanjore – Trichy – Madurai - Rameshwaram

Day 1 : Chennai

Upon arrival our representative will greet you at Airport/ Railway Station and then transfer to the hotel. Later enjoy visiting places such as Kabalishwara Temple, Santhom Church, St. George Fort and Madras (Chennai) Museum. Enjoy a comfortable overnight stay at Chennai.
Day 2 : Chennai - Kanchipuram - Mahabalipuram

After breakfast check out from the hotel and proceed to visit Kailasanatha Temple, Vaikunda Perumal Temple, Varatharaja Temple and Ekambareswara Temple at Kanchipuram, renowned as the city of temples in Tamil Nadu. Thereafter, drive off to Mahabalipuram. On arrival, check-in to the hotel for a comfortable overnight stay.
Day 3 : Mahabalipuram - Tanjore

After breakfast check out from the hotel and proceed to visit Arjuna's Penance, Five Rathas, Shore Temple, Tiger Cave and Krishna's Butter Ball. Afternoon Checkout of the hotel & drive to Tanjore & check in at hotel. Evening at Leisure. Overnight at the Hotel
Day 4 : Tanjore - Trichy

This entire area is rich in South Indian temple architecture. Today visit the great Brihadeshwara temple in Tanjore, which is considered to be one of the most magnificent Chola temples in India, standing tall in the temple city. Visit the Art Gallery and Saraswati Mahal library houses in the Tanjore Palace. After lunch in Tanjore, drive 55kms/1.5hrs to Trichy/Tiruchirapalli.
Day 5 : Trichy - Madurai

The Trichy/Tiruchirapalli skyline is dominated by the Rock Fort Temple. Also visit Sri Rangam, a superb temple complex spread over an island in the Cauvery River. The Sri Ranganathaswami temple dedicated to Vishnu is one of the biggest temples in India. After lunch drive to Madurai, which has been a centre of learning, and pilgrimage for many centuries. Overnight stay in Madurai.
Day 6 : Madurai - Rameshwaram - Madurai

After breakfast proceed to day visit to Rameshwaram - one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. Legend says that Ramanatha Swamy Temple stands where Lord Rama performed worship of a Sand Lingam made by Sita. Lunch at Rameshwaram. Return to Madurai in the evening and stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 7 : Madurai sightseeing tour

Today, enjoy a sightseeing tour of this bustling pilgrimage city whose life revolves around the great Meenakshi Temple, which dominates the old city. This temple with its Gopurams (pyramidal gateway towers) is covered with a profusion of multi- coloured images of mystical figures, animals and gods. Also visit Tirumalai Nayak Palace and the Gandhi Museum. Later in the afternoon, check out of the hotel and drive to Madurai railway station/airport for onward journey.
